Bray Wyatt, in his new gimmick the Fiend, is set to battle the Demon King Finn Balor in a SummerSlam rematch next month.

Bray Wyatt returned to RAW last week in this new gimmick of the Fiend to attack Finn Balor. This week, Balor addressed Wyatt and challenged him for a match at SummerSlam. Wyatt appeared on the titantron screen with his Firefly Fun House puppets and accepted Balor’s challenge.

Finn Balor and Bray Wyatt earlier had a feud in the lead-up to SummerSlam 2017. They faced off at that year’s show where Balor defeated Wyatt while coming out in his Demon King gimmick. However, the match got a negative reaction from the fans and critics alike.

Last year, Balor was once again successful in defeating Baron Corbin when he appeared in the Demon King Gimmick. This year’s SummerSlam will be the fourth year in a row to don the Demon King Gimmick at SummerSlam after winning the inaugural WWE Universal Championship match at SummerSlam 2016. That is if WWE decides for Balor to don the gimmick at the event at all.

After being out with an injury, Bray Wyatt’s return was teased by WWE at the RAW after Mania episode in April. For next few weeks, Wyatt appeared in the fan-favorite recorded segments of Firefly Fun House where he introduced his new gimmick of the Fiend. Last week at RAW, Wyatt made his RAW return and surprised Balor. This week again, Wyatt continued his crusade when he attacked Mick Foley during the RAW Reunion episode.

With the Fiend character being so over among the fans, it will be interesting to see if WWE decided to hand it’s first loss to the Demon King character. Given that Balor is rumored to take some time off from WWE after SummerSlam, it is a big possibility. Again, that is if Balor indeed comes out in the Demon King gimmick.

SummerSlam 2019 takes place on 11 August at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Canada.
