The Wildcard rule seems to have gotten out of hand with so many wrestlers appearing on their opposite brand every week. This is being done to boost ratings and, so far, it hasn’t really worked out. The only big boost this year was the Raw Reunion show with the returning legends.

Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the plan right now is to go back to splitting up the rosters again in October when SmackDown Live moves to FOX. There might be some minor crossover but the idea is to not have wrestlers move around so freely like they are doing right now.

Part of the reason for this is that now with Paul Heyman as the Executive Director of Raw and Eric Bischoff as the Executive Director of SmackDown Live, they want the shows to come across as legitimate separate brands with different storylines instead of how things are now with storylines bleeding into each show.

As of now, the plan is for the rosters to stay as they are with a few minor changes.
